The sight of those iconic red blazers has long been associated with Billy Butlins’ famous holiday parks and their enthusiastic staff.
But if we’re honest, they’ve not always been the most stylish garment, despite a string of high-profile designers reworking the uniforms throughout the decades.
However, for the latest update, Butlins has taken no chances and enlisted the help of up-and-coming British designer Hannah Clayton, billed as one to watch by Italian Vogue and a favourite of pop star Lady GaGa.
The red blazers, first worn in 1936, have been given a makeover by the 25-year-old designer, who spent time chatting to Butlins Redcoats to hear exactly what they wanted from their uniforms.
Hannah said: ‘Having spent time with the Redcoats in Bognor Regis I was able to fully understand the importance of their role, the physical demands of the job, and how essential it is that they look and feel the part,’ she said.
